In the wild, they would live inside trees and colonize there. But in the captivity or urban areas, your attic might attract them. Squirrels have many species, according to a study around 43 squirrel species are found in different continents. However, the problem & damage these tree squirrels cause might not be close to the other ones. The mess they make by chewing on wood and electrical wires to be kept on one side. But the decay caused by death of one of them & the bad odor of their urine & droppings will concern you. In winters, you will most commonly find squirrels in your attic.



Preventive Measures Come in Handy

Make sure to fix and close all entry points since they are not too large in size and come in numbers. If you see one of them, there are surely other partners roaming around too. Getting squirrels out of your attics is probably one of the most difficult tasks. Getting rid of other rodents is relatively easier and effective but for flying squirrels, the case is different.

Calling An Expert May be The Best Solution

Preventive measures can be taken such as closing down all vents, entry points and any other lids & holes that may allow squirrels to enter but once they are there, you surely have to decide to contact a nuisance control expert. Flying squirrels will come in numbers around a dozen. They will stay in the attic for as long as possible in the winters and might return back themselves if they don’t find enough food until summer.

Trapping them does not always quite work too well. Flying means they will glide all over the attic and that too quickly. So if you are looking to set a trap to capture them & relocate, you got to have some luck along with you as well.
